Fees and billing
Redlynch Village Medical Centre is a Medicare Bulk Billing Practice.
GP consultations, including telehealth consultations and consultations for repeat prescriptions, are bulk billed for Medicare-eligible patients. There is no out-of-pocket cost for these services.
Some services are not covered by Medicare and attract a fee. These are listed below. Our reception team can confirm any cost when you book.
Patients who are not eligible for Medicare
Patients without a valid Medicare card, including some overseas visitors, are charged a private fee.
- Standard consultation: $85
- Long consultation: $135
Some overseas visitors may be able to claim part of the cost through a reciprocal health care agreement or their travel insurer. Please ask reception when you book.
Ear care
- Ear micro-suction, single ear: $75
- Ear micro-suction, both ears: $100
No Medicare rebate is available for ear micro-suction.
Procedures and treatments
- Iron infusion: $150
- ECG with doctor review: $100
- ECG with cardiologist review: $150
- Private Boostrix (whooping cough) vaccination: $50
- Spirometry only: $200
- Audiometry only: $120
Boostrix is provided free under the National Immunisation Program for pregnant women, infants and children. The fee above applies only to patients who are not eligible under the NIP. Please ask reception.
Some procedures also attract a consumables fee covering items used during the procedure, such as disposable surgical equipment, local anaesthetic, sutures and dressings. Please ask your doctor or reception whether your visit will attract this fee.
Occupational health and employment medicals
These services are not covered by Medicare and are not bulk billed.
- Standard pre-employment medical: $330
- Commercial drivers licence medical: $300
- Coal board medical, doctor as AMA and EMO: $350
- Coal board medical, doctor as EMO only: $300
- Category 1 rail medical: $550
- Category 2 rail medical: $550
- Category 3 rail medical: $380
- Bloods for Category 1 rail medical: $78
- Respiratory crystalline silica medical: $330
- Instant drug and alcohol screening: $100
- Medical examination and history only, with doctor sign off: $150
- Additional paperwork or transcription: $200
- Blood lead test: $50
- ILO chest x-ray: $350
- Failure to attend a booked medical: $150 per medical
Workers compensation
The first workers compensation consultation is charged privately at $108 where a WorkCover claim number has not yet been issued. Once a claim number is provided, consultations are billed to the insurer.
Reports and records
- Short report: $170
- Long report: $350
- Very long report: $400
- Provision of medical records to a third party: $85
Patients requesting a copy of their own medical records should speak to reception. Different arrangements apply.
Other services not covered by Medicare
- Travel medicine consultations and travel vaccinations
- Home visits and family conferences
- Allied health and specialist services provided at the practice
Please check with reception for fees on these services. HiCAPS is available for health fund holders.
Failure to attend
A $40 fee applies if you fail to attend an appointment, or do not give us 2 hours notice when cancelling or rescheduling. This fee is payable before booking any further appointments. A separate $150 fee applies to booked medicals, as listed above.
Making payments
Payment is required on the day of the consultation and can be made by cash, EFTPOS or credit card, excluding AMEX and Diners.
Financial hardship
Patients experiencing financial hardship should discuss this with their doctor or practitioner at the time of consultation. Fee waiver is at the discretion of the treating practitioner.
Zero Tolerance
We have zero tolerance policy towards any abusive & aggressive behavior.
